BTEC
We are proud to announce the introduction of a brand new BTEC level 2 award (this is equivalent to a GCSE) in Driving Science for learner and novice drivers. The award is administered by the Edexcel exam board and has been developed by A2om (said ‘atom’, http://www.a2om.com/) as an integral part of practical driving lessons. All our driving instructors are trained to deliver the course, which comprises continual assessment using a mixture of online, practical on-road and discussion tasks, to take the learner through to the driving test and beyond into the novice driver period. There are 5 modules which must be completed, each module containing a number of assessment tasks; module 5 cannot be completed until the driving test has been passed, thereby giving a much more robust qualification for both insurers and employers.
The benefits to the learner/novice driver are:
- increased safety and confidence, through knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to safe driving skills.
- increased employability - employers can be confident the young driver will not present an increased safety risk for them.
- reduced insurance premiums - we are confident all insurers will welcome this award as a reliable indication of a safer novice driver, unlike Pass Plus which has failed to show any improvement in the crash statistics for young drivers.
- BTEC level 2 is a vocational qualification equivalent to a GCSE, and will make a welcome addition to the student’s ROA and CV.
- online study, using a2om’s unique and powerful software, at times to suit the learner; online asessments can be taken when the student feels ready and when guided by the instructor to do so.
- a significant reduction in test day nerves due to regular on-road assessment tasks throughout the learning period.
There is no doubt that the standard attained by the learner driver by the time they take their driving test will be extremely high; therefore, coupled with the fact that they will have become so accustomed to continuous assessment during the learning phase, learners following this course will be much more likely to pass the driving test first time. Although it is our view that pass rates themselves do not give an indication of level of driver safety, nevertheless it is worthy of note since it indicates that driving lessons will be cost effective, the likelihood of requiring further hours beyond those needed to acquire the BTEC award being greatly reduced. And with the practical test currently costing £56.50, learners will save around £100 for each test retake not required; so it’s easy to see that the added cost of the BTEC is easily recouped through these savings alone. Add to that the cost of post-test training through Pass Plus, not required as the BTEC includes post-test training, and you really do begin to see just how cost effective this actually is.
At just £1250 our CareLearner course, combined with the BTEC award, additional study material and our own online facilities designed to back up all learning, plus support for your accompanying driver, most certainly represents excellent value for money. And, for a limited time only, we will pay for your driving test too! Call now to book your lessons. Payment options available.
