These courses are designed to assist elderly drivers to retain their independence for as long as possible and all on-road training focuses on the areas each client drives in; you will not be asked to drive in the city centre, or on the dual carriageway, if this is something you never do. Where appropriate, we will also help you to make the transition from reliance on the car to using other forms of transport, and altering your life-style in a way which is helpful for you.

You will be aware of the many discussions which arise whenever a road traffic collision involves an elderly driver, and the subsequent calls for elderly driver assessment and testing. This can be very worrying, especially if you live in a rural area and rely on your car to retain your independence, do your shopping, go to the doctor’s surgery, collect your pension or meet up with friends for a coffee. But you also know that it is a responsibility driving on our busy roads today and I’m sure you would not want to be a danger to others - the proof is you’re reading this now. We offer bespoke training to cater for your individual needs, but the following lists just some of the course content we offer:

• on-road  training, 1:1 with a driving instructor or 2:1 with spouse or friend and the driving instructor   
• group discussion and seminar to update your knowledge of the Highway Code and understand particular handling skills for modern vehicles
• learn about eco driving: what is it? how will it benefit your pocket? how does it impact on road safety?
• defensive driving skills - group presentation and on-road training
• your health and driving - when do you need to inform the DVLA? How is your ability to drive affected?
