CareLearner (info for learners)

As a learner driver, what do you want from your driving lessons?

  • to reach test standard as quickly as possible?
  • to find the cheapest lessons?
  • to get the best instructor to get you through your test?
  • to get your independence as soon as possible?

Have you considered the following:

  • The cost of running your own car?
  • All the legal stuff you’ll have to get involved in to drive a car?
  • The chances of being involved in a car crash?
  • The responsibility you take on when you drive?
  • How it will feel to drive without your instructor there?

Now let’s look at the most important things you need from your driving lessons:

  • An understanding of the dangers on the road and how to deal with them
  • An understanding of where to look and what to look for, so you spot the dangers
  • An understanding of the decision making process and how to apply this to driving
  • An understanding of the mistakes other drivers make, and why
  • An understanding of the safety reasons behind the driving procedures you are taught
  • A recognition that driving is all about what you do with your eyes and brain and not just the skill of what you do with your hands and feet (as this part must become automatic)
  • An understanding of all the threats to your driving security which will present themelves to you once you have that licence: friends in the car with you; distractions like loud music and your phone; going out at night to parties, pubbing or clubbing; alcohol or drugs; peer pressure to break the rules a bit, like not wearing your seat-belt; driving too fast because you think you can!
  • An understanding that you will continue learning after you pass the test and that you will be faced with a lot of ‘first time’ things, with no instructor there to help: in snow and ice, heavy rain and fog; on the motorway; getting lost and looking for places; following directional signs, to name just a few.

Driving is the most dangerous activity you will perform on a daily basis and so it is important that you are made aware of these dangers and shown how to avoid them.

Driving is also a fantastic skill to have as it gives you freedom and independence and lets you travel to places you want to go to.

Owning and running a car is one of the most expensive things you will do, which is made much more expensive if you are involved in a collision.

Therefore, don’t simply choose the cheapest, or the one promising you’ll pass your test in a week, or the one endlessly telling you they have the best test pass rate!  Choose the one which promises to give you skills to help keep you safe post-test and the one which promises to stay around and support you after you’ve passed your test!  Choose Care Motoring because we honestly do care, I promise!

Do it…  Because you care!
